Omak 1-8 Outreach

Omak 1-8 Outreach

Omak 1-8 Outreach is a student-centered alternative learning program. This program began as a vision to help our younger students (grades 1-8) who struggle in traditional classroom settings. We all know that every classroom is not the right fit for every student, and this program provides flexibility in finding an educational alternative that will meet the unique needs of each learner.  Students, upon entering this program, typically have experienced several barriers to learning. 1-8 Outreach strives to rebuild strong relationships with students, increase their confidence as learners, and foster the academic and social emotional growth of each child.

Outreach students complete most of their coursework from home. Students meet with Mrs. Swartsel once or twice a week to drop off completed coursework, pick up new coursework, receive instruction, and complete assessments. They also complete science labs and hands-on activities at school. Students enrolled in 1-8 Outreach are encouraged to participate in all events and activities that other students participate in such as assemblies, clubs, dances, sports, and field trips.
